24th May: With just 10 days to go before the EHCC2017 begins in ‘s Hertogenbosch, we are delighted to have a few moments with UHC’s Janne Müller-Wieland. A seasoned German International and is already giving back as a member of the EHF’s Indoor Committee.

Janne, what does it mean to be playing for UHC  in the EHCC?

Playing in the EHCC is always special to us as we can compete with the best teams in Europe! It’s a great event and is interesting to see what the levels in the other countries is like. We have played a few EHCC’s in the last years, but we are always striving to do better and reach the top.

How different is it playing for your club than Germany?

Playing for Germany is always a big honour. I love playing with the best players in Germany against the best teams world wide – every cap and every tournament is a new challenge. However, UHC is my home, the girls and the club are like family, it’s where I grew up and would always come back to

What message would you give to young female hockey players aspiring to get to this level?

Enjoy what you do and don’t get discouraged if things don’t work out right away! When I was allowed to play in the 1st team as a youth player we were still 2nd league, trying not to go down. Over the last years we worked our way up there and managed to establish the UHC at the top end of the 1st league. I enjoyed every moment of it and it definitely was worth the effort.

In case you are wondering she’s a ‘dog’ person!!!

Thanks Janne for taking time to chat to us!

More heroes to come ahead of what we believe will be the best ever EHCC, especially now that we have a Junior EHCC for the first time. A cracking event for our Under 14 teams from some of the participating teams to compete on the big stage!
