Day 3 at the EuroHockey Indoor Junior Championship II in Croatia was set to be an exciting climax to the tournament  with the first big game being between Czech Republic and Slovakia. In a very tight and tactical battle the with no goals being scored in the first 13 minutes with the Czech team breaking the deadlock from the penalty spot on the 13th minute.

 

Slovakia struck back from a penalty corner 4 minutes later but the Czech team went in at half time 2 -1 up after a good team goal converted by the tournament’s top scorer Lukas Plochy.

 

The game remained tight until the 28th minute when Plochy struck again from open play to make it 3-1. Slovakia then took off their keeper with 4 minutes to go but could not convert the chances they created and Czech Republic ran out 5 – 1 victors with 2 goals in the last two minutes

 

The second big game was the final game between Croatia and Slovakia in front of very noisy full stands. There was a fantastic atmosphere for the start of the game and both teams started nervously and there was no scoring for the first 10 minutes. Croatia made the crucial break in the 12th minute from a well taken goal by Petar Hrsak. The game continued to be a tight end to end game but the first half finished 1 -0 to the pleasure of the home crowd.

 

The second half was again enthralling and sustained Slovakia pressure saw them draw level after 30 minutes. This sparked Croatia into life and two quick goals sealed the victory with Slovakia scoring a consolation on the 40th minute.

 

The result was met with great excitement in the hall with Croatia gaining promotion to the Championship
