England Hockey men’s team forward Mark Pearn will miss the remainder of the GANT EuroHockey Championships in Monchengladbach after picking up a knee injury.
The 34 year old East Grinstead player sustained the injury during England’s 4-2 defeat of Ireland on Sunday and sat out England’s second match, against the Netherlands on Monday. He returned to the UK on Tuesday and will see a specialist on Wednesday. The injury is not thought to be serious.
Head Coach Jason Lee said of Pearn’s withdrawal: “We’ll miss Mark’s creativity on the pitch and his positive influence around the group. We know how disappointed he is and wish him all the best for his recovery.”
Pearn cannot be replaced in England’s squad at this stage of the tournament.
