East Grinstead v HC Luzern 2-2 (0-1)

In relegation pool C at the EuroHockey Indoor Club Cup in Hamburg neither Swiss champion HC Luzern nor East Grinstead made a big step to stay in the division.

They drew 2-2 in a dramatic match. Luzern scored a corner goal in overtime, but there was an official protest from the English team management after the match. They mentioned that the corner decision was after the final hooter. And the protest was upheld by the tournament director Barry Anderson.

In a low scoring match Luzern was leading 2-0 up to the 24th minute, when EG converted a penalty corner. In the hectic last minutes the English guys were able to equalize.

Partille v SV Arminen 7-7 (4-4)

What a game! A pure spectacle of end to end hockey with both teams taking the lead and chasing the game. The draw was a fair result with neither team deserving to lose!

HDM v Club Egara 4-3 (2-1)

In a dramatic first semifinal at the EuroHockey Indoor Club Cup in Hamburg Dutch champion HDM Den Haag beat Club Egara 4-3 and reached the final of this competition for the first time in history. It was a well balanced match from beginning. Both teams showed strong defensive performances. HDM was a bit more dangerous in the circle. They earned more penalty corners in the match and took the lead three times, but Egara always equalized after a few minutes. But when specialist Timmo Kranstauber converted a corner in the 39th minute for the 4-3 lead, Egara wasn’t able to fight back a fourth time.

Der Club an der Alster v Dinamo Ekaterinburg 8-3 (2-1)

The final of the EuroHockey Indoor Club Cup Men in Hamburg will be played by the host Club an der Alster and the Dutch champions HDM from Den Haag. Alster beat the Russians from Dinamo Elektrostal in an exciting semi-final 8:3 (1:2). In the first minutes both teams have shown a lot of respect and had their focus on the defense. Indeed it was the Germans who had problems to create good chances. At halftime Elektrostal was leading 2:1.

In the second half Alster was by far the better team. With a lot of pressure they locked their opponents in their own half. Nevertheless Dinamo took the lead back once but by then only Alster was playing an impressive offensive hockey. They scored one goal after another, while the Russian game was almost broken. In the end Alster were the deserving winners and face HDM in the final tomorrow at 2.30 p.m.
