While all eyes in the Hockey Family are on EHL Round 1 in Barcelona this weekend, an important meeting takes place in the EHF’s headquarters in Brussels.

The EHF Appointments Committee will meet this weekend to discuss a range of topics relating to 2017 and 2018 Indoor & Outdoor appointments. The members work closely together but each has a specific area of expertise:

Chair, Ray O’Connor (IRL) – Ray is a former Olympic and World Panel umpire and a current World Panel Umpires Manager. He oversees all committee business.

Secretary, Yolande Brada (NED) – Yolande is a former Grade 1 umpire and current Grade 1 Umpires Manager. She is in charge of all UM appointments and assists in managing umpire and officials appointments.

Member, Sylvie Petitjean (FRA) – Sylvie an active/current official (FIH Category 1)official and has been appointed to the Olympics, Champions Trophy and EuroHockey Championships, amongst others. Alongside Christian and Anna, she is in charge of all officials appointments.

Member, Christian Deckenbrock (GER) – Christian is an active/current official (FIH category 2) and has been appointed to the Olympics, Champions Trophy and EuroHockey Championships, amongst others. Alongside Sylvie and Anna, he is in charge of all officials appointments.

Member, Anna Grazia Puglia (ITA) – Anna has had a long career as an official, having been appointed to Champions Trophy, EuroHockey Championships amongst others. Alongside Sylvie and Christian, she is in charge of all officials appointments.

Member, Christian Blasch (GER) – Christian is a Olympic and World panel umpire. He is in charge of all male umpire appointments.

Member, Margaret Hunnaball (ENG) – Margaret is a current Grade 1 Umpires Manager. She is in charge of all female umpire appointments.

Member and EHF Staff, Yamila Conill – Yamila takes care of administrating all work relating to the committee and appointments.

 

The committee will review the 2017 Indoor and Outdoor seasons, including TD reports and feedback forms.

The group will also plan, review and discuss the appointments for 2018 .

A second, shorter Indoor 2018 nomination period is currently open, allowing National Associations to amend their nominations for the upcoming Indoor season.  The period opened on October 1st 2017 and shall remain open for a month, closing on November 1st, 2017.
