This week we highlight a great initiative which promotes cooperation between Masters players, junior players, hockey clubs and National Associations to help promote hockey and help young players develop by providing coaching sessions and the opportunity to play against senior players. The Lionesses Intergenerational Project’s goal is to have real integration in the Hockey Family. The project has gone from strength to strength since it began in 2009 with the first event held in conjunction with the Croatian Hockey Federation.

This year, Croatian Hockey and the UK & Irish International Women Masters Lionesses come together once again for four days of Intergenerational mentoring and skill and knowledge sharing between senior and junior players from Croatia, Slovenia, England and Wales. This event began on October 22 and ended yesterday 26 October.

The first day began with the Croatian National senior team playing against the Masters team the Lionesses,  followed by their junior counterparts playing. After the matches, the teams and families met at hockey club Mladost for a barbecue. The next three days saw more matches and  coaching sessions take place.
