18th February 2017: Mannheimer and Minsk  will face each other tomorrow in the EuroHockey Indoor Club Cup Final!

Semi Final 1 – Mannheimer HC 6 – 1 (2 – 0) Club Campo de Madrid

Mannheimer opened the game intent on getting onto the scoresheet early. They pressed hard and won a corner in the opening minutes which ROSA, in the nets for Club de Campo padded away safely. Club de Campo absorbed all the pressure until a converted PC in the 13th minute a direct shot from POHL. Mannheimer doubled their score as HAASE struck the ball under the keeper in the 16th minute. Club de Campo towards the end of the half, but Mannheimer’s defence was firm and held the score to 2-0.

In the second half Mannheimer scored in the 26th and 28th minutes from corners. A 4-0 deficit was a tough ask for the Spanish side, but they did get on the score sheet via MAGAZ MEDRANO in the 29th minute, but the German’s scuppered the comeback with 2 more excellent goals from HASSE’s PC strikes.

The final score of 6-1 was a dominant display and the gauntlet down to the winners of the second semi-final as Mannheimer are veery much the team to beat here in Wettingen.

HC Rotweiss Wettingen 4 – 7 (3 – 1) HC Minsk

In a high tempo game from the start, both on and off the field as a packed house crammed into the hall in Wettingen it was Minsk went ahead via SAZHINA in the 1st minute.

The reply came quickly as RWW turned over the ball, the initial strike by SCHNYDER was saved, but AEBI pounced on the rebound for the equaliser.  RWW went ahead as the keeper appeared to be wrong-footed and again AEBI was there to slip the ball in for an easy goal. In the 15th minute RWW captain WÄLTI scored a PC, a low drag into the bottom right. The hosts Wettingen were 3-1 ahead at the break.

In the second half Minsk were on fire, a goal from TSABROVA in the 22nd minute marked the start of their comeback. FILIPOVICH scored in the 22nd minute and the game was level. WÄLTI scored again for Wettingen and again the hosts were ahead by a small margin.  An believable spell for Minsk as they scored three times in the 36th and 37th minute to go ahead 4-6 going into the final 2 minutes to play. SAZHINA was crucial to the plays, offering assists or being on had with perfect passes for her team mates. She collapsed in the final minute in pain, it appears (speaking to her after the game) it was some kind of spasm, but she was off and RWW saw a chance for ‘do or die’ and withdrew their keeper in the hope of finding a way through. Unfortunetly this left them weak at the back and URUBLEUSKAYA added her second and Minsk’s 7th to claim their place in the EuroHockey Indoor Club Cup Final v Mannheimer.
