Today, the Royal Dutch Hockey Association has appointed Sjoerd Marijne  as coach of the Dutch national Women’s team. The contract is effective from August 1, 2014 and runs until the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. The announcement was made during a press conference by Arno den Hartog, technical director KNHB. Marijne follows Max Caldas as coach.
Arno den Hartog: “Sjoerd is an experienced coach who has worked for a long time in the KNHB as (assistant) coach of the various national (youth) teams. It is a great challenge for him to further develop the team. The goal is to continue the same way and to go from a solid defense to a perfect one, as well as to maintain the top position while maintaining the Dutch style of playing: creative, attacking, and fast hockey.  I would also like to thank HC Den Bosch for supporting  Sjoerd. ”

Coach Sjoerd Marijne: “It’s an honor to become coach to the best team in the world. It’s now up to me to maintain the lead over our competitors and hopefully build even further. I’m really looking forward to getting started”

Champions Trophy

The next official tournament Sjoerd Marijne as coach of the Dutch national team will be the Women’s Champions Trophy from November 29 to December 7, 2014 in Mendoza, Argentina.

Junior Men
At present Sjoerd is still coach of the Junior Men which whom he will  participate in the EuroHockey Junior Championship 2014 which will take place from 20 to 26 July in Waterloo, Belgium.
