The Royal Dutch Hockey Association (KNHB) and Rabobank today announced that Rabobank will be the presenting partner of the EuroHockey Championships 2021.

The EuroHockey Championships 2021 will take place from 4 to 13 June in the Wagener Stadium in Amsterdam. Eleven European countries, represented in eight women’s and eight men’s teams, play for the European hockey titles for ten days. The finals will be played on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th June and will be preceded by the semi-finals and on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th June.

Uncertain times:

The EHF, KNHB and Rabobank realize that these are uncertain times due to the corona crisis. However, all parties are determined to make the European Championship a fantastic event if it is not yet clear whether an audience is allowed in the stadium. It is also not yet possible to say which other measures are in force and which will affect the organization of the tournament. The KNHB is currently discussing the possibilities together with us, the European Hockey Federation (EHF), NOC NSF and various government agencies.

Different scenarios have been drawn up for a tournament with an audience, an event with a small number of spectators or even without an audience. As Erik Gerritsen, General Director KNHB, explains we have to comply with any corona restrictions: “The EuroHockey Championship is already a different event than we are used to organizing. It goes without saying that we have to take into account the corona measures that will soon apply. But no one knows at the moment what will be possible in June. The health of the participants and officials is our priority, directly followed by our ambition to involve hockey fans in the tournament as much as possible. In whatever way. ” Gerritsen continued: “We think we can also make a hockey party under corona conditions. Rabobank pursues the same goal but is also familiar with the challenges we face. We greatly appreciate that Rabobank is nevertheless embarking on this adventure with us.”

Rabobank is working on an innovative tool:

Rabobank, a partner of the KNHB since 1998 – Rabobank is once again looking forward to organizing a great event together with the KNHB. This year too, now that circumstances call for other measures, Rabobank is happy to take an active role.

For example, the bank is currently working on the IDA Wallet, an innovative app that allows event visitors to provide a corona test result and identity information to be safely admitted to events.

Mariëlle Lichtenberg, Director of Private Customers and member of the Rabobank Group Management Board: “At the moment, Rabobank is involved in four so-called “Back 2 Live “events with Fieldlab Events. Perhaps this innovation could also play a role in admitting spectators to the EuroHockey Championships. “

Match schedule and ticket sales:

The definitive competition schedule is not yet announced. As soon as this match schedule is in place and there is more clarity about the possible ticket sales, it will be announced.
