EHF Executive Board Report, September 11th, 2021
EHF Executive Board meeting took place via video conference on Saturday 11th September 2021.
President’s Welcome
The President, Marijke Fleuren, welcomed everyone to the fourth Executive Board meeting. She started to say thank you to Carola Morgenstern – Meyer for her enormous contribution to the EHF over many years starting on Committees and then joining the board with her in 2005. Marijke thanked Carola particularly for her work on Education, Development, and Hockey ID. She has supported everyone not just as an Executive Board member, but as a good friend and confidante as well.
Carola Morgenstern – Meyer: “I want to say thank you to everyone, especially the Executive Board members, Angus and Jorge who support me a lot. I learned a lot here and I will learn more in the future. I enjoyed every minute of being a part of EHF and helping to grow hockey for everyone including individuals and NA’s.”
Apologies for the Absence: Simon Mason.
Minutes
The minutes of the June meeting were approved.
General Assembly update
Angus Kirkland updated the Board that work has been ongoing with the preparations for our online General Assembly. More information here.
Competition Committee Outdoor report
Walter Kapounek updated the Board on the situation due to EHF Club Competition events taking place in September / October.
Further to our previous communications, it is clear there is a big desire to play and compete – it is also clear that under the current circumstances we will not be able to satisfy the wishes of all teams and Members. With this is in mind we have taken the philosophy of providing opportunities to play to those that can, whilst being as fair as possible to those that can’t.
Angus Kirkland and Carola Morgenstern – Meyer gave a short update to the Board about the European Championship 2023 planning.
Director-General report
Angus Kirkland updated the Board on EHL plans, EHTV+ projects, World Cup Qualifiers, and European Championships Qualifiers.
EHL and Origin: Work is ongoing with the hosts in the preparations for the EHL Ranking Cups taking place at the end of September/early October.
Work has continued with Origin to progress their investment and partnership with EHL. We have held two information evenings with a large number of Clubs across 14 National Associations.
EHTV+: A lot of work has been done by the EHTV+ team and Jokko de Wit from our side. Presentations and discussions are ongoing with several NAs and we hope to be able to make some announcements in this regard in the near future. All in all, EHTV+ is moving in the right direction, and we are confident that EHTV+ will deliver more hockey content and engagement for fans and in the longer term can provide a revenue stream to the EHF.
Any other business:
The President thanked the Board for their time and contributions. Marijke wished the election candidates good luck for the upcoming General Assembly Executive Board elections.
The Executive Board thanked the EHF staff members for the work they did especially during the summer to deliver our EuroHockey events. The meeting closed at 11:00.
