24th August 2022: The EuroHockey Championship Qualifiers continue this week as Vienna continues today and Dunkirk, Calais and Glasgow got underway.
EuroHockey Championship Qualifier C 2022 Men, Vienna, Austria
Ukraine v Croatia 8-3 (4-2)
Italy v Austria 0-3 (0-1)
The second day in Vienna saw the sun shining as all four teams challenged each other mentally, physically, and tactically. The first match saw Ukraine dominate quarter one, allowing them a 3-0 lead. Croatia fought back in quarter two resulting in Ukraine only leading 4-2 at halftime. The remaining goals came in the third quarter with Ukrainian extending their lead for an 8-3 victory.
The second game saw Italy take on the host nation Austria in a thrilling 60 minutes of hockey. Austria took a narrow 1-0 lead at halftime. The game ended 3-0 for Austria with Italy attempting until the last whistle to try and score.
EuroHockey Championship Qualifier B 2022 Men, Calais, France
Ireland v Lithuania 19-0 (5-0)
France v Turkey 14-2 (4-0)
The First Day of the EuroHockey Championship Qualifiers in Calais, France started with a 19-0 win for Ireland against Lithuania breaking an Irish record of total goals in a game. Before today’s game, the most goals scored for Ireland in one game was a 13-0 win for Ireland against Malta in 2002 and in Fiji in 2013!
France achieved another high score against Turkey, winning 14-2 with both Victor Charlet and Timothée Clément scoring 5 goals each
EuroHockey Championship Qualifier D 2022 Men, Glasgow, Scotland
Wales v Switzerland 8-0 (4-0)
Scotland v Gibraltar 9-0 (6-0)
The first day of the EuroHockey Championship qualifiers in Glasgow saw 17 goals. The Welsh won 8 – 0 against Switzerland and Scotland won 9 – 0 against Gibraltar.
The latter team had a suspended player, 43-year-old Eric Abudarham, who received that suspension in 2010! Tomorrow sees two clashes between Scotland and Wales (the two top-ranked sides here) and the Swiss face Gibraltar, this time with ErIc!

France v Switzerland 2-0 (1-0)
Scotland v Austria 4-0 (3-0)
An opening win for hosts France 2-0 in front of a noisy home crowd including some senior officials of the French Olympic Committee including President Brigitte Henriques. The perfect start and lines up a nice battle for tomorrow against top-ranked side Scotland (WR17).
