Erasmus+ Good Governance Transnational Meeting: 4

The 4th meeting of the Good Governance Project was held in Ukraine to provide insight into the actions that Sumy Regional Hockey Federation clubs and members wanted.

Sergy Tatarenko from Sumy provided the introduction of the Erasmus project to members who attended alongside the project teams from the Federations involved. This evolved into an interactive session including Petr Keller from the Czech Republic comparing contrasting club systems across each nation with members provided insight into actions they would implement.

The following day was on pitch master class sessions in umpiring and coaching led by Coen Van Bunge and Nathan Kipp. These sessions were for starters in each area who were learning the basics that drive people to be able to learn and want to volunteer their time to hockey development.

The learning around mobilising volunteers was caught in an action plan led by Ukraine Hockey Vice Federation Vice President Iryna Kharcenko alongside.

The next meeting will be in January 2020 with the KNHB inviting all the project teams to their national club day to learn more about the structures of good governance to mobilise hockey members.

The President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Serhiy Bubka met with colleagues from the Hockey Federation of Europe, the Netherlands and Ukraine in the walls of the Olympic House.

Discussion on the development of sport in our country and international cooperation was attended by Director of Development of the European Hockey Federation Tom Pedersen-Smith, Director of Development of the Royal Netherlands Federation of Field Hockey Gabrielle van Doorn, State Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Oleg Nemchi President of the Field Hockey Federation of Ukraine Zenova Kholodnyuk, Honorary President of the Field Hockey Federation of Ukraine Vladlen Kovtun, Vice President of the Field Hockey Federation Irina Kharchenko, heads of sub-branches Liv NOC of Ukraine.

Serhiy Bubka thanked his international colleagues for their visit to Ukraine and attention to the state of Ukrainian field hockey. “I am convinced that in order for the Federation to function effectively, the development of the sport must have all the mechanisms in place: budget financing, assistance from the Olympic Committee and sponsors and, of course, the support of international colleagues. Your visit is of great importance and we hope that you will be able to pass on your experience and knowledge to Ukrainian specialists. ”

He added: “For its part, the NOC continues to support national federations by providing financial assistance, administrative grants, conducting training seminars for coaches, judges, specialists in Ukraine and ensuring the participation of our specialists in educational activities abroad.”

Representatives of the European Federations expressed their sincere gratitude for the hospitality of the leadership of the NOC, the Ministry and the national federation, expressing their readiness to work closely with their colleagues from Ukraine, involving our specialists in various European programs and implementing projects on the development of sports infrastructure in our country.

The participants discussed in detail the issues of further cooperation, the participation of Ukrainians in the European program Erasmus +, ways to improve the material of field hockey and more.
