A world-class playmaker, Fanny Rinne rightly takes her place in the EuroHockey Hall of Fame following an epic career, highlighted by Olympic, European and Indoor World Cup gold medals.
As the dynamic engine of the German national team, Rinne earned 341 international caps with her crowning glory came in Athens 2004, capturing Olympic gold.
She added a European Championship gold in 2007 in Manchester, adding to four silver medals and a bronze on the continental stage. Indoors, she also took gold in 2002 while her German side stood on the World Cup podium’s top step in 2003 and 2011.
On the individual front, she was nominated on the shortlist for the FIH Player of the Year five times and was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award.
She is the first of four “Class of 2025” inductees who will be revealed over the next few days ahead of their formal presentation at the EuroHockey Championships in Mönchengladbach in August.
