#FridayFocus – We are delighted that Cronos, a major Belgian group that views itself as a catalyst for the development of scientific research on new technologies into business solutions, has come on board as the title sponsor of the EuroParaHockey Championships.

Back in January the European Hockey Federation and Royal Victory Hockey Club announced that the Antwerp based club would be organising the ParaHockey Championships. The event was officially announced at a Belgian Hockey Association press conference as the Cronos 2019 Euro ParaHockey Championships.

Held from 19 to 21 August, the Cronos 2019 Euro ParaHockey Championships will have two teams from Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain and one team from England, Germany, France, Ireland, Italy and Portugal.

At the press conference, Victory Chairman Leo Lucas said:

“Organising the European ParaHockey Championships was a logical step for our club. Victory is the pioneer of ParaHockey in Belgium. Our Wanderers have been totally integrated into our club and are one of our three sports pillars, together with top hockey and recreational hockey.”

The link with the title sponsor is pretty obvious:

“To us, supporting the social integration of handicapped sportsmen and women is a central issue,” says Dirk Deroost, Cronos CEO. “We are more than proud to associate our name with such a prestigious tournament of this stature.”

EHF Development and Education Manager, Tom Pedersen Smith added:

“The 2019 Cronos EuroParaHockey Championships will be the 3rd formal edition of this Championships and the first that has a title sponsor, demonstrating what an important event in the EHF’s calendar that this event has become. We are very excited to work closely with our hosts Victory and our Youth Panel to deliver a fantastic, fun, memorable event for all our ParaHockey players.”

The Cronos 2019 Euro ParaHockey Championships will be played at Victory in Edegem, Antwerp on 19th and 20th August. The finals will take place at the stadium for the Belfius EuroHockey Championships, Wilrijkse Plein location on 21st August.
