21st March 2018: The 21st of March is a special day in our calendar of hockey as today we get to celebrate all of our ParaHockey players who have Down syndrome.

We are delighted that many players with Down syndrome enjoy our sport and compete not only in their clubs around Europe but also at the biennial Euro ParaHockey Championships, which run concurrently with the EuroHockey Championships. They play with other athletes who have other intellectual disabilities and compete at the 3 levels, beginner, intermediate and elite.

ParaHockey has enabled many players with Down syndrome who would perhaps have not been allowed to play mainstream hockey or have found that as they got older the skill level became too much, to play hockey at a level that is competitive and fun!

We are delighted to celebrate their day #WDSD18 and advocate on behalf of all of our players with Down syndrome to enable them to participate in their development as equals with our mainstream athletes.

Hockey is a sport for all, we believe in that and we live that message!
