The UDP targets talented young umpires within Europe and provides a programme of events running over a three year period.

  • The programme is planned by two mentors who provide personal tuition and guidance throughout the 3 years and organise seminars, events and practical weekends.

Our UDP graduates have officiated at the very highest levels….

  • Laurine Delforge (BEL) – Olympic Final
  • Marcin Grochal (POL) – Olympic Semi Final
  • Sarah Wilson (SCO) – Olympic Bronze Match

Over the 3 years a series of modules on elite umpiring will be covered and there will be a number of exchange weekends to elite tournaments with your mentor and the chance for you to umpire and receive feedback as your learning progresses.

The Umpire Pathway Practical Weekend

A practical weekend each year is run at Breda in The Netherlands. This is vital for those who will wish to apply to UDP, as it will serve as the key element of selection for the UDP programme. U4E members will umpire a number of games in the prestigious Push Hockey Trophy, which attracts some of the best Under 18 and Under 16 teams from Belgium and The Netherlands.
