Hockey Family celebration at the Cronos Euro ParaHockey 2019

Posted On 20/08/2019

The 2nd day of EPHC 2019 took place under the sun at the Royal Victory club. In each pool, every team played against their 3 opponents to determine tomorrow’s opponent for the finals matches taking place at the Belfius EuroHockey Championships main venue.

But the highlights of this event wasn’t only about competition as Marijke Fleuren EHF President and FIH executive board member about ParaHockey said: “It’s a long way to go (to the ParaOlympics) but we are working really hard to get it done. (…) But the most important thing for us is that the players, the coaches, the parents and the friends have fun because it’s not about winning, it’s about being together and having fun.” It’s indeed the smiles that we’ve seen on players, family, officials and volunteers faces all along the day.

Today was also about gathering hockey family, as the Netherlands and Germany Women’s national players visited their national ParaHockey players. Alyson Annan, Head coach of the Netherlands women’s national team: “I think it’s important for us to support hockey for all worldwide, it’s good to be here.” And added about ParaHockey “It’s fantastic, I think it provides the opportunity for everyone to play the game that we love so much.”

Juan Andres Dutch ParaHockey player and ParaHockey ambassador and Marijn Veen from the Netherlands women’s national team showed the same passion for the game and enjoyed this moment of sharing. Marijn Veen: “It’s amazing to see them play, there are very good and it’s a nice tournament and I like it”. Juan Andres added: “I’m very glad that they’re coming to see us play and nice to see them on the tournament”
