The 33rd EHF General Assembly will be held online

The European Hockey Federation has today confirmed that the 33rd EHF General Assembly, due to take place in Prague on August 20th, will be held online within the next 8 weeks.

The EHF Director-General, Angus Kirkland said “The Czech Hockey Federation has worked tirelessly with its Ministries to make a face to face General Assembly happen. Unfortunately, as the quarantine rules for non-EU states would mean a minimum of 5 days quarantine in the Czech Republic, in addition to some delegates’ home countries taking stronger measures upon arrival back home, it is now not equitable for us to go ahead with a face-to-face meeting.

We have considered trying to re-arrange a face-to-face General Assembly for a later moment in the year, but given the unpredictability across Europe, it seems best now to focus on a meeting online, which we will announce in due course.

We are very disappointed with this outcome as we were really looking forward to connecting with all our NA’s in person!

I would like to personally thank Gino Schilders and Czech Hockey for the enormous work that they had done to try and have the GA in Prague.”

The EHF confirmed that the EuroHockey Championship II competition will still go ahead as planned as the Czech Republic decision excludes sports competitions.
