EHF President, Marijke Fleuren said “We are very disappointed to be canceling the EuroHockey Indoor Junior Championships divisions in Nymburk and Olten. We understand how devastating it is for athletes who have trained for these events for such a long time.
When we moved them from January, we were confident that we would be able to deliver them safely in December. However, along with our hosts, we don’t believe that it is possible, given the very strict travel and quarantine conditions in the Czech Republic and Switzerland, to deliver these events.
In principle, when we returned to hockey last Easter, we agreed that if our hosts are ready to host and teams want to travel and we deemed it safe, we would endeavor to deliver our events. We have the assurance from our hosts in Parades and Sveti Ivan Selina that they have measures in place, and their Government restrictions will allow these events to continue. We will work with our hosts and the teams to ensure the safety of all.”
