Below is an update on the situation with regard to the upcoming EuroHockey Indoor Club events 2022.
The EHF in conjunction with our hosts Larensche Mixed Hockey Club (w) and Amsterdam AH&BC (men) are very disappointed to announce that we are cancelling the EuroHockey Club Cup 2002, Women and EuroHockey Club Trophy 2022, Men.
The Director-General of the EHF, Angus Kirkland said ”Unfortunately after discussions with the relevant health authorities over the course of last week in the Netherlands, the decision has been taken to cancel these events.
The EHF is very disappointed that in spite of the best efforts by EHF and our hosts, the worsening outlook makes the event no longer feasible to run.
This situation, which is a directive from the Dutch health authorities is beyond our control.”
Larensche Mixed Hockey Club (w) and Amsterdam AH&BC (m) added “Despite all the efforts of our clubs and the support we have received from the Municipality of Almere, the Province of Flevoland and the Best Western Hotel Group, we are unfortunately unable to organize the Indoor Club Championships due to the current Covid-19 circumstances.
We spent almost 2 years talking, arranging, rearranging, stopping and starting over. It hurts that we can’t host it. We would have loved to see our teams and our guests play a wonderful tournament in Almere.”
The host Club MASK in Norway had already advised us earlier that they could not host Challenge III, Men and the clubs have been informed.
