Day 6 Roundup – EuroHockey Championship Qualifiers

23rd August 2022: The EuroHockey Championship Qualifiers continue this week as we got underway in Vienna, Austria (m).  Austria (WR19), Italy (WR28), Croatia (WR47), and Ukraine (WR30)

Hosts  Austria (WR19) will be hoping to use their home advantage and with an opening win v Ukraine they and Italy got off to a dream start:

Italy v Croatia 5 – 3 (4 – 2)
Austria v Ukraine 5- 3 (3-0)

The first day in Vienna has seen action-packed end-to-end hockey with 16 goals scored. Italy vs Croatia started the day off battling out in the sunshine. After a tense first half finishing in 4-2, the Italians held on in the second half for a 5-3 win. The second game saw the pitch fill with home Austrian fans to cheer Austria vs Ukraine. Austria lead at half time 0-3, but Ukraine dug deep in the second half scoring 3. However, the Austrians took the points at the final whistle after scoring 2 in the second half. This rounded up the day with another 5-3 score line.
