Gino Schilders was honoured with the Etienne Glichitch Award in recognition of his contribution to the growth and development of hockey, in particular for the Czech Hockey Federation, in the last 25 years.
Originally from the Netherlands, he played hockey for clubs like Den Bosch and Oranje Zwart. Since then, for nearly 25 years he has been part of the Czech Hockey Federation. Starting as a coach of the national teams and later becoming a President of the Czech Hockey Federation.
He has worked hard to develop and establish hockey in many areas and is always active and enthusiastic. Through Erasmus programs, he has helped not only locally but also to include other countries. It includes work in the realms of Youth Leadership, Coaching Programs, ID Hockey, LGBT.
The Czech Hockey Federation, under the guidance of Gino, has been supported by the Czech National Sport Agency and the Czech Women’s National team will get funding for their road to Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028. This is the first time in history the Czech National Sport Agency supporting hockey in the Czech Republic.
Gino has previously been honoured with an EHF Diploma of Merit and the FIH Theo Ykema Award.
