Olympic gold medalist Helen Richardson Walsh kicks off the fourth season of the EHF podcast as she speaks in fascinating depth with Jack Rolfe about the psychology behind high performance and the creation of team culture.

She started her international career in 1999 at the age of 17 and became the youngest ever woman to represent GB hockey at an Olympics in Sydney the following year.

Helen went on to compete at four Olympic Games and as part of the senior leadership group played a central role in propelling the women’s game to victory on the world stage at Rio 2016.

Since retiring from playing, she has moved into the coaching realm completed a masters in psychology and is working a performance psychologist from Tottenham Hotspur.

In this podcast, she reflects on her own experiences with GB international team, how their vision, values and behaviours evolved into a “high trust and psychologically safe” environment that underpinned their success.
