The hosts are hoping to build on their super bronze medal at the FIH Indoor World Cup last year in Poreč and are looking to have a big crowd in situ at the venue which also hosted the Euros in 2018.
The UNYP Arena will serve as the central venue of the tournament. It is located close to Metro Line B and can accommodate up to 1,300 spectators and its facilities rank among the best in Prague.
“Indoor hockey is really special to me,” says national team captain Kateřina Laciná of the opportunity to play in Prague. “Playing at home is always something unique. Our goals will definitely be aimed at reaching the top four.
“At last year’s World Cup, we were just a small step away from the final. So if we have the same strength in the team as we did last year, we’ll definitely be aiming for the highest places.”
“The home atmosphere will definitely be special. I hope as many fans as possible will come to support us, because there will surely be plenty to watch just like in 2018.
“I believe that, in Prague, we can beat anyone — just like when we defeated Germany in 2018. But there’s still a lot of hard work ahead of us before the tournament.
“Indoor hockey is a dynamic and fast-paced version of traditional field hockey, played indoors on a smaller pitch, which puts emphasis on technical skills and quick play. Thanks to that, the championship promises plenty of exciting matches and great sporting performances.”
