EuroHockey Executive Board Meeting, 8th – 9th March 2024
The President, Marcos Hofmann, warmly welcomed everyone to the first face-to-face meeting of the year, which took place in the EuroHockey office in Brussels. Marcos summarised the indoor season and was thankful to all the EuroHockey officials, representatives, and staff for their hard work during the 4 weeks of indoor hockey that showcased 11 events in 11 different member countries.
Marcos shared his experience from the FIH Hockey5s World Cup in Oman and updated the board regarding several meetings and interactions with CF’s and NA’s representatives that were there. Marcos was thankful to the board who approved the purchase to increase the shareholding in the Euro Hockey League. Further information can be found here.
The minutes of the meeting of 1st – 2nd December 2023 and 24th January 2024 were read and approved.
DIGI & SGG update
Tom Pedersen-Smith presented to the board digital transformation; what was done in the last year and the timeline for this year around the website, portal, and platform. All member national associations have started to use the EuroHockey portal, and they will be updated in due course about its improving functionalities.
The board was updated on the Solidarity through Great Governance EU project which started in January 2024. The project includes 6 member national associations with whom we will work together and support them on their strategic journey in their national association.
Communication report
Stephen Findlater presented to the board the communication report on indoor season. In 4 weeks EuroHockey had 11 events in 11 different countries, with 38 international teams, 50 club teams, and 203 officials appointed.
The board was updated that February was the biggest ever month on Instagram, with high engagement rates and an increase in followers. EuroHockey streamed 125 matches across 5 events in Leuven, Berlin, Vienna, Alanya and Budapest.
Commercial report
Jokko de Wit and Inez Cooper updated the board after the first commercial panel meeting where panel members discussed 5 key steps EuroHockey will go through: data collection, content production, and monetisation, developing athlete/influencer partnership strategy, events, and global brand attraction.
The board was updated on eurohockeytv.org results after the indoor season, EHC 2025 additional rights for EuroHockey and EHTV+.
Competitions report
Walter Kapounek presented to the board an update regarding outdoor events in 2024/2025 – recommendations from the competition committee regarding hosts were discussed and approved.
The board discussed the EHC 2027 bidding process and member national associations will be informed about the bidding process in due course.
Angus Kirkland updated the board on the upcoming EHL KO8 M&W and EHL U14 B&G in April 2024.
Walter Kapounek presented to the board updated information regarding the indoor season 2024 and the upcoming indoor season 2025.
FIH update
Marcos Hofmann updated the board on various FIH topics.
Finance report
Levi Van Havere and Angus Kirkland updated the board with end-of-the-year 2023 figures, year-to-date February 2024 figures, and Budget 2024 & 2025.
