EuroHockey holds constructive strategic meeting in Sweden

EuroHockey recently held a constructive strategic meeting in Sweden with SWE3, where Head of Strategy & Development Tom Pedersen‑Smith met SWE3 representatives including Tobias Lindh, Monika Stylin, and Fredrik Haraldson, alongside members of the landhockey leadership group.

The meeting centred on exploring future development pathways for field hockey in Sweden and deepening cooperation between the organisations.

Strengthening Tri‑Part Collaboration

Alongside this, EuroHockey and SWE3 expressed their intent to strengthen collaboration with Riksidrottsförbundet (the Swedish Sports Confederation) to ensure field hockey’s strategic development is fully aligned with the broader Swedish sports system and benefits from national‑level support structures.

These discussions also provided valuable insight into SWE3’s strategic direction, particularly as the federation continues to evolve following its 2022 merger.

The meeting aligned with ongoing conversations between SWE3 and SBSLF regarding a potential integration, which could see Baseball/Softball and Lacrosse join the wider organisational network.

SWE3 is now preparing for a significant moment at its upcoming General Assembly, where members will vote on formally welcoming baseball/softball and lacrosse into the organisational family, an important development in SWE3’s growth trajectory.

Wrap‑Up and Summer Follow‑Up

As SWE3 moves through this transitional phase and potentially expands its multi‑sport membership, EuroHockey will continue to support the federation in ensuring strong governance alignment and clear strategic direction for field hockey.

A summer follow‑up is planned after the anticipated transition of Baseball/Softball and Lacrosse, allowing all parties—including Riksidrottsförbundet—to review progress, refine strategic priorities, and reinforce a cohesive pathway for growth across the Swedish sporting landscape.
