EuroHockey Club Challenge I Women 2026 (Brzeziny, Poland) – day two round-up
Penarth became the first side to formally earn a place in one of Monday’s two women’s EuroHockey Club Challenge I finals after a day of high drama in Brzeziny.
The Welsh club got their second win when they emerged 4-0 winners over HC Luxembourg, shining late in the game with Millicent Bushnell and Amy Burton both scoring twice – three of their goals came in Q4.
HAHK Mladost advance their final hopes when they added a 5-0 win over Europa to go with their opening draw with Luxembourg; Korina Stojić and Ana Vanić both scored twice in this one, lifting them to seven points.
It leaves them needing to pick up at least a losing bonus point or better against Penarth to advance to the finals stage.
In Pool B, IFK SumDPU have the advantage on 10 points but they could still be caught by both Orient Lyngby and KS Hokey Start Brzeziny in Sunday’s final round of group games.
Lyngby got their tournament rolling with an impressive 4-1 win over Danish rivals Copenhagen HC. The sides were locked at 1-1 at half-time but two goals from Bente van Vlijmen and a second of the day from Ana Pacheco gave Orient the spoils.
The day ended with IFK SumDPU edging a 1-0 result against the Brzeziny hosts with Viktoriia Ziakun getting the only goal in the 42nd minute.
The Ukraine side now needs a draw to affirm their place in first when they meet Orient on Sunday but a three-goal win for the Danes could open the door for them and the Polish hosts.
