Predanovci, Qormi and Mladost advance in men’s Challenge I in Slovenia

EuroHockey Club Challenge I Men 2026 (Predanovci, Slovenia) – day two round-up

HAHK Mladost, Qormi and Triglav Predanovci had their places in one of Monday’s men’s EuroHockey Club Challenge I finals confirmed after day two in Slovenia.

In Pool B, Épitök and Copenhagen emerged from their opening battle of the day with a 1-1 draw. Tobias Grand had given the Danes a lead in the ninth minute but Zsigmond Szóga equalised in Q2 and that was how it stayed, leaving the Hungarian side on seven points while Copenhagen have three.

HAHK Mladost lead the way with two wins from two, their big 11-2 win over Furuset from Norway – with four goals from Vitalii Kalinchuk – boosted them to 10 points and assured of one of the places in Monday’s finals.

Mladost face Épitök in the first of Sunday’s group games with the Hungarians needing a draw to avoid a nervous wait for the outcome of Copenhagen and Furuset.

The day ended with a real nailbiter with Qormi’s 3-2 win over SHVSM Olimpia Vinnitsa earning them and hosts Triglav Predanovci (pictured on day one) a place in Monday’s final regardless of how they do on Sunday.

A crazy first quarter saw Olimpia build a 2-0 lead through Denys Kusiaka and Dmytro Drozhenko in the first six minutes but Qormi went in at the first break 3-2 ahead.

A wonder spell saw Julian Zahra open their account and then Dutchman Tommy Kok netted in the 13th and 15th minutes for a 3-2 lead. It stayed that way all the way to the end, a result which confirmed the Ukraine side would stay in third place and out of finals contention.
