Sagene enjoyed an historic debut as they won both of their EuroHockey Indoor Club Challenge II games in Porvoo, making it a winning start for the first ever Norwegian women’s team on this stage.
Gabrielė Jakunčikovaitė was their one player to have lined out in such an environment and the Lithuanian used her experience from Ginstrekte to net twice in the first half of their first game against Hungary’s BKGDSE-FASOR.
She netted four times in the final reckoning of a 6-2 win and she followed up with another five goals in her second game when they defeated hosts Porvoo 7-1.
For FASOR, they got points on the board with a 2-0 win against Porvoo with Zsuzsanna Tóth and Anna Fogarasi on the mark in the first 13 minutes for the victory.
In the men’s Challenge I competition, Bulgaria’s FHC Slavia 1921 have the early momentum with two high-scoring wins. The first was a comprehensive 9-0 victory over Georgia’s Bluehawks – Milush Stoyanova did most of the damage with four goals.
He got another three when they beat Oslo SK, helping build a 7-1 lead which held up despite three late goals from the Norwegian club.

Oslo had won their morning match 3-1 against Finland’s HT 85 courtesy of goals from Mohammad Kiyani, Mohammed Ashraf and Thomas Vasiluta.
Baltic Champs, meanwhile, started their campaign with a 10-0 win over the Bluehawks with Justinus Lažys’ hat trick leading the way.
