Scotland and England win well in Pool C

Scotland and England picked up contrasting wins over Ireland and France, respectively, in Pool C to pick themselves up after the group stages.

Scotland got their first EHC win over Ireland since 2013 as they scored three times in the last 11 minutes to win 3-2.

Ireland did get their first goal of the tournament in the third quarter from a Róisín Upton penalty stroke. Charlotte Watson equalised via the same method but Ireland were back in front in the 51st minute through Katie Mullan’s powerful shot.

Scotland, though, finished strong with Amy Costello’s drag-flick making it 2-2 and then Heather McEwan cashed in when the ball ricocheted off the post and perfectly into her path for 3-2.

England, meanwhile, beat France with a trio of penalty corner goals making the difference. Grace Balsdon scored two in the seventh minute in Q1 before Ellie Rayer’s reverse made it 3-0 at half-time.

Yohanna Lhopital got one back with a brilliant backhand shot but England finished strong with Lily Owsley getting her second goal of the tournament.
