Tactics
The Foundation creates safe places for play in underserved areas. It recognises the importance of play in development and aims to use it as a tool for positive social change, aligning with the European Union priorities for youth and connected to its White Paper on sport.
The EuroHockey Foundation will be uniquely positioned to focus on the three areas for using sport for social good due to a combination of factors:
1. Existing Structure and Network:
- Established Organisation: EuroHockey, as the continental federation, has a strong existing structure, to secure relationships for the Foundation across its network of 42-member National Associations, and established relationships with key stakeholders. This provides a solid platform for implementing and scaling initiatives across Europe.
- Reach Across Diverse Communities: Hockey across Europe encompasses a wide range of communities, including those with varying socioeconomic backgrounds, ethnicities, and abilities.
2. Experience and Expertise:
- Track Record in Social Impact: EuroHockey has prior experience in delivering social impact programs, demonstrating its commitment to using sport for good. This experience provides valuable knowledge and lessons learned for developing and implementing new initiatives.
- Partnerships: EuroHockey’s prior collaborations with organisations like the Johan Cruyff Foundation and ISCA brings additional expertise in social impact and community development.
3. Strategic Focus:
- Alignment of Priorities: The Foundation’s focus on three social objectives aligns with the tactic of not spreading operational resource too far. This creates opportunities for sustainable funding and support.
- Long-term Commitment: The Foundation’s establishment signifies a long-term commitment to social impact, ensuring sustained efforts and resources dedicated to these areas.
