Women’s EuroHockey Championship III (Alanya, Türkiye) -– day one round-up
Ukraine and Türkiye picked up double-figure wins over Hungary and Luxembourg, respectively, to start of their campaigns at the women’s EuroHockey Championhsip III in Alanya in dominant form.
For Ukraine, they won 18-0 against the Hungarians who are playing in just their second EuroHockey Championship event.
As such, the difference in experience was in evidence with seven goals going in the first quarter while Karyna Leonova ended with seven goals individually to her name by the end.
For Türkiye, they were too strong for the debuting Luxembourg side with an 11-0 win. Just two came in the first quarter but the hosts soon cut loose with the prolific Fatma Songül Gültekin running up five – she now has 31 goals in 42 international matches.
Wednesday sees Hungary face Luxembourg in the opening game before Türkiye take on Ukraine.
