EuroHockey is delighted to welcome Sanne to the team.
A recent Sports Management graduate from the University of Applied Sciences Amsterdam, Sanne joins EuroHockey as Competitions and Officials Coordinator after gaining valuable experience with the KNHB events team, where she supported the organisation of major events, including the Hockey World Cup and EHL Under-14 competitions.
“My first experience with EuroHockey came during the EHL Under-14 event. I enjoyed having responsibility for a project while working with a supportive team, and it made me want to be involved in European hockey.”
What have you learned from event management so far?
“One of the biggest lessons is that events don’t always go to plan. You need to be adaptable, work with the people around you and find solutions quickly.”
Sanne also highlights teamwork as a key ingredient for successful events.
“Even when you are responsible for a specific area, you’re never working alone. It’s important to ask questions, support colleagues and work together.”
You recently attended a EuroHockey competitions committee meeting. What was that like?
“It was a great opportunity to learn. I spent a lot of time listening, taking notes and getting to know the different perspectives around the table. It helped me understand how EuroHockey works with its members and committees.”
What are you most looking forward to?
“Meeting people. I’m excited to work with volunteers, officials, umpires, and colleagues across the hockey community, learn from their experience and contribute wherever I can.”
Away from hockey (she plays socially), Sanne is a creative person and enjoys creating and making bespoke gifts for friends and family.
And finally, how are preparations for Brussels going?
“I’m currently living in the Netherlands and looking forward to moving to Brussels. It’s an exciting time and I’m really looking forward to getting started.”
