AHTC shine at home as Lambersart land second promotion place for France in Vienna

AHTC Wien finished their women’s EuroHockey Indoor Club Challenge I in style as their 5-0 win over KPH Rača made it five wins from five in Vienna.

Tessa von Velsen was once again the scorer in chief as she netted twice in each half to bring her tournament total to 17, four goals clear of Rača sharp-shooter Karolína Vyskočová.

Earlier results has already assured them of the top step on the podium and they finished their victory lap in some style.

Iris Hockey Lambersart held off a storming comeback from Copenhagen HC to earn second place in the tournament, jumping up above their Danish rivals with a 5-4 win.

Knowing nothing less than victory would do, the French side raced out of the blocks and built a 3-0 lead in the first half via Salomé Dain, Eve Verzura and Julie Martinot.

That advantage grew further via Camille Druart before Copenhagen came roaring back with three goals in as many minutes to make it 4-3 going into the final quarter.

Crucially, Druart scored again before Chiara Stichling reduced the lead once but the French side had done just enough for the win and promotion for their country for 2026.

In Pool C, Ukimerioni Kutaisi and Swansea’s 5-5 draw saw Wales relegated to the second tier with the Georgians ending the competition in fifth place.

The Welsh side put in their biggest performance of the weekend, leading 3-1, 4-2 and 5-4 but Kutaisi kept fighting back to earn the draw.
