CAM 92 produced a perfect shoot-out performance to win the men’s EuroHockey Club Trophy I in Lisburn, coming out on top against hosts Lisnagarvey.
They did think they had let a golden chance slip when they succumbed to a late comeback having led 3-1 going into the final quarter.
Garvey bounced back to draw level with late strikes from Andrew Edgar and Jonathan Lynch to make it 3-3.
Tom Gaillard and Mathis Bézier-Mercier had helped build a 2-1 lead at half-time and Gabin Lorrazuri strengthened their position before the Irish club summoned their super finale.
But the French side settled their nerves quickly and scored all four of their shots via Lucas Montecot, Antonin Igau, Timothée Clément and Corentin Sellier. And when Garvey missed out in rounds three and four, it sparked the celebrations in earnest for the visitors.
Earlier in the day, Ioan Wall’s double ensured he finished well clear of everyone else in the goalscoring charts, helping Cardiff & Met beat Grange 6-0. Wall ended on 10 goals and his side finished in third place.
In the fifth/sixth place playoff, Slavia Prague beat OKS-SHVSM Vinnitsa in a shoot-out after normal time ended 2-2. Vinnitsa had led 2-0 in the third minute but František Toms scored in the 42nd and 43rd minutes to tie things up.
