Casper Guldbrandsen was presented with the EuroHockey Diploma of Merit last weekend by board member Walter Kapounek in honour of his incredible contribution to the sport in Europe.
He has been a key figure with the Competitions Committee Indoor for 12 years and was quickly co-opted to act as the committee’s secretary. He then became chairperson in 2018, an integral role in the development and organisation of the diverse range of annual indoor events.
It follows a wide-ranging history in the sport. He was a decorated player with Denmark, he played 108 international games – the most for anyone from his country – and built an exceptional goalscoring record both indoors and outdoors.
He went on to become the chairman of Orient Lyngby and then on the board of the Danish Hockey Federation, leading to his closer connections with EuroHockey.
With EuroHockey, he is currently one of the most elevated officials. On the club and international, he has served as a judge, technical officer and technical delegate as numerous EuroHockey tournaments as well as with the FIH.
