Concordia and newcomers Tevere EUR win men’s Club Challenge I gold

HK Concordia 1906 and debutants ASD Tevere EUR both won the two gold medals on offer from the men’s EuroHockey Club Challenge I as they won the respective finals.

For Concordia, they eventually prevailed in a thrilling shoot-out over Gaziantep Polisgücü while the Italian side ran up a healthy win over Swansea in Konya.

Final: Gaziantep Polisgücü SK v HK Concordia 1906 1-1 (2-3 S/O)

HK Concordia 1906 (pictured above) won a hard-fought victory over Gaziantep Polisgücü SK after a 1-1 draw in regular time, winning 3-2 in the shootout to take one of the sets of gold medals on offer.

The first half saw HK Concordia taking the lead in the 23rd minute with a field goal by Luka Mesarić. Gaziantep equalized in the 40th minute with a penalty corner goal by Müslüm Elagöz . Despite numerous attempts by both teams, the match ended in a 1-1 draw, pushing the game to a decisive shootout.

In the shootout, which went to sudden death, Concordia’s Filip Žlimen and South African internatinoal Rusten Abrahams successfully converted their chances.

Müslüm Ekinic and Celal Aydin were on target for Gazientep sending it to extra shoot-outs where Concordia’s Žlimen converted a second in the sudden death round, and that was enough to secure the win.

Final: ASD Tevere EUR Hockey v Swansea HC 4-1

ASD Tevere EUR secured a decisive 4-1 victory over Swansea showcasing their early prowess in front of goal to win a European gold as the very first attempt.

Tevere EUR started strong with Casper Garrone on fire, scoring two field goals in the 3rd and 4th minutes. They extended their lead in the 30th minute with a field goal from Giacomo Palombi. Shortly after, Garrone completed his hat-trick in the 34th minute, bringing the score to 4-0. Swansea HC managed to score a consolation goal with a penalty corner conversion by Nathan Dean in the 53rd minute.

This victory solidified ASD Tevere EUR’s position, earning them joint top spot in the tournament, while Swansea finished in third place.

5th/7th place playoff: HK Triglav Predanovci v Építők HC 3-8

Építők HC secured a dominant 8-3 victory over HK Triglav Predanovci to finish in 5th place with Triglav ending in seventh spot thanks to a five-star comeback in the fourth quarter.

The game began with Predanovci taking an early lead through Gregor Bukvič’s penalty corner goal in the 2nd minute. Építők HC equalised in the 13th minute with a penalty corner from Márton Wesselényi. Predanovci regained the lead with a field goal by Davorin Škrilec in the 26th minute, only for Miksa Wesselényi to quickly level the score again in the 27th minute.

In the third quarter, Škrilec scored his second goal, putting Predanovci ahead 3-2. However, the fourth quarter saw Építők HC explode with six goals. Norbert Kovács scored a penalty corner in the 47th minute and a field goal in the 49th, followed by another penalty corner goal by Márton Wesselényi. Zsigmond Szóga scored a field goal in the 51st minute and two more in the 57th and 59th minutes, concluding the match with a decisive 8-3 victory for Építők HC.
