Denmark through to U16 II final in Kutaisi

Denmark confirmed their place in the final of the boys EuroHockey 5s U16 Championship II in Kutaisi, Georgia, as they notched up four more points to complete the group phase in first place.

They opened the day with a battling 1-1 draw against Bulgaria – the other unbeaten side – Julius Arnborg’s second half goal cancelling out Halil Hristov’s fourth minute effort.

The Danes followed up with a 5-1 win over Luxembourg to make it 10 points out of 12. Luxembourg had earlier got their first win with a 10-2 success against the hosts Georgia.

Armenia and Georgia closed the day with a thrilling 3-3 draw in which the lead swapped three times.

On Saturday morning, Bulgaria will reach the final with a win over Georgia but Luxembourg can put them under pressure if they get a win over Armenia in the first game of the day.

The medal matches will see the bronze contest played at 12.30pm (local time) with the final at 1.40pm.
