Reigning champions KHC Dragons and England’s Surbiton will battle it out for the women’s EuroHockey Club Trophy I title on Easter Monday after topping their groups in Hamburg.
Both needed a draw from their games on Sunday and they both did it with something to spare. For Dragons in the opening match of the day, they struck twice in the second quarter against Slavia Prague to be on their way.
Valerie Magis penalty corners in the 20th and 27th minutes made it 2-0 and she completed her hat trick in the early part of the fourth quarter.
MSC Sumchanka went one better when they defeated Rotweiss Wettingen to ensure they will play for bronze on Monday. Anna Tanchenko got their scoring started just before the end of the first quarter while two strikes from Anastasiia Voievoda and one from Kateryna Shokalenko made it 4-0.
Slavia end Pool A in third place with Rotweiss finishing in fourth spot.
Pool B was even more one-sided with hosts Der Club an der Alster winning 7-0 against Watsonians. Captain Viki Huse got two of them while the rest were shared between Hannah Gablać, Jule Bleuel, Hanna Granitzki, Emily Kerner and Katharina Haid.
It was not enough, though, for them to grab top spot as Surbiton won 8-1 against Butterfly to see them top the group.
Izzy Petter and Sophie Hamilton took away any nerves in the first quarter and Giselle Ansley backed it up with a third before half-time. Petter ended with a hat trick while Hamilton scored two.
