EuroHockey hosts FIH Quality Programme Technical Advisory Group meeting in Brussels

EuroHockey was proud to host the latest FIH Quality Programme – Hockey Turf Technical Advisory Group (TAG) meeting at its headquarters in Brussels last week.

The gathering brought together representatives from the FIH, EuroHockey, national associations, and industry partners to discuss the continued development of hockey playing surfaces and standards worldwide.

Chaired by the FIH Facilities & Quality Programme Manager Alastair Cox, the agenda included key topics such as the development of non-irrigated (dry) turf surfaces, updates to FIH Hockey Turf and Field Standards, and the replacement of 3G multi-sport turfs with new FIFA/FIH DualSport systems.

The meeting also explored updates to field certification processes, performance testing, and lighting and irrigation assessment for future facilities.

EuroHockey was represented by Tom Pedersen-Smith, alongside members of the EuroHockey Development Committee, reaffirming our commitment to innovation and sustainability in hockey infrastructure.

The meeting was attended by representatives from national associations including Belgium, the Netherlands and England, as well as leading turf manufacturers and testing laboratories, reflecting the strong collaboration between governing bodies and industry experts.

EuroHockey thanks the FIH and all participants for a productive and forward-looking discussion focused on ensuring the highest quality and sustainability standards for the sport’s playing surfaces.
