Janneke Schopman’s EuroHockey Championship squad sees Germany make a significant refresh as they look forward to hosting the event in August in Mönchengladbach.
Chief among the new look panel are the likes of teenager Johanna Hachenberg and Ines Wanner, both of whom made their debuts during the FIH Pro League.
For Hachenberg, she was part of the German side who won the Euro Under-18s in Crefeld in 2023 and jumps straight into the senior panel. In 14 Pro League games, she netted four times.
Wanner, meanwhile, is even newer to the panel. Her outdoor debut came just three weeks ago but she has shown enough in the past eight games to earn the call-up.

Ten of the main panel and one reserve from the Olympics bring the bulk of the experience with Lisa Nolte captaining the side in the Pro League, supported by the likes of Lena Micheel, Selin Oruz, Hanna Granitzki, Nathalie Kubalski, Julia Sonntag and Amelie Wortmann.
At the other end of the spectrum, Lilly Stoffelsma captained the Under-21 side at the Junior World Cup in 2023 in a side that also featured Sophia Schwabe.
Linnea Weidemann is still just 21 but already has a World Cup and Olympics on her CV.
For Schopman, it is her first tournament panel with Die Danas since taking on the coaching role ahead of the 2024/25 Pro League campaign.
“Nominating squads for a major tournament is never easy. We are very pleased with the development of the nominated players,” she said.
“Of course, we also had to make tough decisions. I believe we have found a very good mix with the squad for the European Championships in Mönchengladbach. I am confident that the nominated players can make a splash.”
