The three-day National Beginners Trophy finals in Pisa provided an unforgettable experience for young and old, bringing together 24 Under-12 Hockey teams, four Under-12 Floorball teams and around 700 people to the Tuscan city.
“A wonderful edition of the National Beginners Trophy finals,” said Italian federation vice president Carlo Corsi, the federal representative for the Trophy.
“It was characterised by enthusiasm, participation, and a great spirit of sharing. A true celebration of youth hockey that left an indelible mark on all participants thanks to the engaging and welcoming atmosphere created.

“Even the federal mascot Flick was among the stars of the event, always surrounded by children and families for photos and smiles.
“This was the atmosphere that President Sergio Mignardi and I wanted all participants to experience. Thanks to the work done together with CUS Pisa, we saw families, athletes, and coaches experience three days of sport, friendship, and fun.”
The event began with every team forming a parade into Piazza dei Miracoli, accompanied by flag-wavers, musicians, and the federal mascot Flick.
The group included 290 athletes, coaches, and staff participating in the competition with the parade leading to the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa illuminated in the colours of the Italian flag.

On the stage set up for the occasion were Federal President Sergio Mignardi with, among others, Deputy Vice President Giuseppe Calonico, Vice President Carlo Corsi, Federal Councilor Rossella Gianfagna, and Floorball Division President Sonia Sopranzi. the Sports Councillor of the Municipality of Pisa Frida Scarpa, Andrea Maestrelli, President of the Opera della Primaziale Pisana and the Organising Director Giulio Messerini.
It opened the weekend in style before over 70 matches took place IF Lorenzoni succeeding on the female side while HC Genova succeeded on the male side from the 12-team competition.
Corsi added: “The parade of the teams in Piazza dei Miracoli was unforgettable, a moment that will remain in the memories of all participants. On the fields, impeccably set up by Giulio Messerini and his tireless team, the teams put on exciting matches, always respecting fair play.
“Investing in young people and their families remains a priority for the Federation: this is where the future of our sport passes through.”
