Partille and Copenhagen record perfect opening days in Club Challenge in Slovenia

Sweden’s Partille and Denmark’s Copenhagen are in the strongest position at the women’s EuroHockey Indoor Club Challenge I in Murska Sobota as the only sides to land two wins out of two.

Partille eased by the challenge of newcomers BKGDSE-Fasor from Hungary with a 10-0 scoreline in Pool A with two goals each for Ella Sampers, Sofia Blomgren, Christina Hernvall, Klara Moberg and Nora Thien.

They backed it up with a thrilling 5-4 success against Italy’s HF Lorenzoni. They built a 3-0 half-time lead before the Italians reduced the gap to 3-2 and 4-3 but the Swedish outfit always stayed just ahead.

Lorenzoni had earlier won well against Georgia’s Ukimerioni Kutaisi with Lisa di Blasi scoring two times in a 4-1 success.

The Georgians bounced back to defeat Fasor 11-3 with captain Viktoriia Mazurkevych getting four of the goals while Boglárka Györfi got a historic first European goal for the Hungarian team.

In Pool B, Copenhagen won the key battle with Lisbon Casuals as they came back from a goal down to win 3-2 via Fleur van der Meer, Cecile Jacobsen and Lone Bergmann between the 16th and 23rd minutes.

Both had won their earlier games with Copenhagen proving too strong for hosts HK Moravske Toplice 5-1 while Lisbon defeated Bulgaria’s FHC Akademik Plus Sofia 6-4.

The team from Sofia, though, did ignite their chances of reaching the promotion pool when they held off the challenge from Toplice 4-2.

They were always in control when Ekaterina Petkova broke the deadlock in the sixth minute and Tania Ivanova, Alkesandra Ilarionova and Ventsislava Bosolova made it 4-0.

The Slovene side bounced back with two strikes in the Q4 to earn a losing bonus point.

For Copenhagen, it means a draw or better against Akademik will see them top the group while the Bulgarian side know a three-goal win will see them advance to the top four group.

For Lisbon, they will know their equation when they step on the court for their game against HK Moravske Toplice.
