The EuroHockey Foundation launches today, a major new initiative dedicated to harnessing the power of hockey to create positive social change across the continent.
Guided by its vision “to empower individuals and communities across Europe through hockey”, the Foundation will work to build a society where everyone can reach their full potential and contribute to a more just and inclusive world.
A people focus with sustainable action
Through strategic partnerships and innovative programmes, the EuroHockey Foundation aims to leverage hockey’s unifying spirit to foster equality, diversity, and social integration.
The Foundation will have three main areas of focus from the outset:
- Gender Equality – accessible play spaces to encourage mixed-gender participation, promoting gender equality and addressing barriers to participation for girls and women
– Urban Integration – Creating inclusive play environments and welcoming spaces for children and refugees, fostering social connections and promoting wellbeing in communities.
Intellectual Disability – Supporting mixed hockey programmes for children with intellectual disabilities to promote inclusion and challenge stereotypes.
Its work will be aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring measurable impact and accountability.
A Timely Response to Global Challenges
The EuroHockey Foundation emerges at a time when communities face mounting challenges from geopolitical instability, public health crises, and environmental disasters.
The Foundation recognises that traditional development models are no longer enough, and that long-term resilience must be built from the ground up.
