Men’s EuroHockey U21 Championship II-A (Plzen-Litice, Czechia)
Scotland completed a perfect performance to win the men’s EuroHockey U21 Championship II-A title in Plzen-Litice with a 3-0 final win over hosts Czechia.
It was their fourth win out of four with Joshua Love bookending the victory which brings them Euro promotion and a first Junior World Cup ticket since 2001.
He struck in the first and fourth quarter either side of a goal for Sam Hunt from a corner which always gave them the edge in this encounter.
For captain Rory Steedman, he said it was “an absolute dream to get the boys, especially the older boys, promoted up to the A division and also the Junior World Cup.
“This tournament was an absolute pleasure and I couldn’t be happier for the boys.”
Wales defeated Türkiye 4-2 for the second successive day to claim third place overall with two goals each from Patrick Cradden and James Niven.
Unlike the group match on Friday, the Turks led twice in this one with Yasin Ercan and Hasan Koyuncu outdoing Cradden’s first of the day.
And the game was still in the balance at 2-2 going into the final quarter before Niven and Cradden helped Wales finished the stronger.
