Tevere EUR enjoy debut to remember as Swansea and Gaziantep prevail in men’s Challenge I

Italian newcomers ASD Tevere EUR had a day to remember as they won their first ever EuroHockey fixture with Felix Dionisi Vici scoring a hat trick in their win over Építők in Konya.

They are joined in Pool B on five points by Gaziantep Polisgücü who were too good for Grammarians.

In Pool A’s single fixture, Swansea won against Concordia with the Welsh side now able to enjoy a rest day while the Croats come against HK Triglav Predanovci, needing a result to stay live in the competition’s promotion chase.

Game 1 Swansea HC v HK Concordia 1906 1-0

Swansea HC secured a narrow 1-0 victory over HK Concordia 1906 to kickstart their campaign on the front foot. The match’s only goal came in the 27th minute when Charlie Johnson found the back of the net for the Welsh outfit. Despite numerous attempts by Concordia to equalise, Swansea’s defence, led by captain and goalkeeper Callum Chapman, held firm.

Game 2 Építők HK v ASD Tevere EUR Hockey 1-6

ASD Tevere EUR Hockey had a day to remember as they won their first ever Euro club game with a big performance against Hungary’s Építők. They did, however, fall behind in the 13th minute with a penalty corner goal by Márton Wesselényi. However, Tevere quickly turned the tide, equalising in the 18th minute through a field goal by Felix Dionisi Vici. From there, Tevere were on top, adding five more goals: two more field goals and three penalty corners. Dionisi Vici stood out, contributing a hat trick.

Game 3 Gaziantep Polisgücü SK v Grammarians HC 7-0

In the third match of the day Gaziantep Polisgücü SK dominated Grammarians HC with a commanding 7-0 victory.

The Turkish champions broke through in the second quarter, scoring four goals in quick succession. The goals were scored by Necip Çilkız (penalty corner), Ali Akin Özkılıç, Müslüm Elagöz, and Ramazan Sarioğlu. They continued their dominance in the third and fourth quarters, adding three more goals by Iranian star Reza Norouzzadeh, Celal Aydin, and another from Ali Akin Özkılıç.
