Wales produced an incredible comeback to draw with world champions Germany in front of a sold out, noisy SparkassenPark crowd with Jack Pritchard the hero of the day.
The Welsh defended superbly for the first 25 minutes of the contest but were caught when Hannes Müller made a brilliant aerial interception. It led to a through pass to Malte Hellwig which he controlled perfectly into his path and calmly flicked home.
Lukas Windfeder – in his 150th cap – doubled the lead in the third quarter but their lead was cut in half when Ben Francis picked up the ball on the left and pumped it into the middle where Jack Pritchard redirected in.
Tom Grambusch’s corner goal made it 3-1 but Wales were not out of it and, with 11 minutes to go, Gareth Furlong slung in a drag-flick of his own.
And they were in dreamland when Dan Kyriakides produced an extraordinary piece of work to dummy out of a tackle and whip the ball into the path of Pritchard who turned in the vital goal for 3-3 with two minutes left.
Owain Dolan-Gray: “Just ecstatic, that’s an amazing team out there but we found a really good performance, really had a go at them and played our heart out to get the result.
“It is always the proudest moment of my life, doing it for over 10 or 12 years now. It means so much to me and given so much to my life!”
