Laurine Delforge and Ivona Makar have been honoured with special awards as they reached significant umpiring milestones.
For Delforge, the Belgian became the first female European to umpire her 200th international match on Saturday evening when she was part of the third team for the Netherlands versus Ireland.
She has been active as an umpire for many years and this is the sixth time she has been appointed to the EuroHockey Championships. She has umpired nine EHL competitions, including four GRAND FINALS, three World Cups and she was present at the Olympic Games in Rio, Tokyo and Paris where she officiated all three finals.
For Makar, the Croatian was presented with her golden whistle as she reached her 100th international match on Sunday morning for the match between England and Scotland.
This is her fifth appointment to the EuroHockey Championships – including one final – and builds on previous highlights like the Junior World Cup, Youth Olympics, Olympic Qualifiers and the World Cup.
Both are graduates of the EuroHockey Umpire Development Progamme.
