EuroHockey Foundation launches recruitment process for Independent Trustees

The EuroHockey Foundation is delighted to announce the launch of its recruitment process for Independent Trustees, offering a unique opportunity to help shape a new pan-European movement using sport as a force for good.

Established in 2025, the EuroHockey Foundation is an international charity with an ambitious mission: to connect funding, partners and communities to deliver safe places to play for those who need them most using the power of hockey.

A Foundation Built for Impact

The Foundation has set out a bold long-term vision through its Strategy 2025–2035:

  • Enable 30,000 children and vulnerable people to access safe, inclusive places to play by 2035
  • Establish 15 “Safe Places to Play” sites across Europe
  • Deliver over 100 community programmes and measurable social outcomes

At the heart of the strategy is a clear commitment to tackling inequality through sport, focusing on three priority themes:

  • Gender Balance
  • Urban Integration
  • Intellectual Disability Inclusion

Through partnerships with governments, NGOs and communities, the Foundation aims to improve health, education and social inclusion outcomes across Europe.

Why Now?

Across Europe, many children and vulnerable groups still lack access to safe, accessible sporting environments—impacting their wellbeing, development and opportunities.

The EuroHockey Foundation is uniquely positioned to respond:

  • Pan-European reach across 42 member nations
  • Proven track record in Erasmus+ and social impact programmes
  • Ability to combine grassroots delivery with elite sport visibility

With growing policy and funding support for sport as a driver of social change, the Foundation is now scaling its work and governance structure.

The Role: Independent Trustee

The Foundation is now seeking Independent Trustees (Board Members) to join its Board and guide its development.

This is a voluntary role with an estimated commitment of 6–10 days per year, including quarterly board meetings and ambassadorial support.

Trustees will play a vital role in:

  • Providing strategic oversight and governance
  • Supporting fundraising and partnerships
  • Ensuring the delivery of meaningful social impact across Europe

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to strategic direction and decision-making
  • Ensure strong governance, integrity and accountability
  • Support impact measurement and reporting frameworks
  • Open doors to funders, partners and networks
  • Act as an ambassador for the Foundation

The Foundation is seeking individuals with independence, credibility and a passion for social impact, with experience in areas such as:

  • Fundraising or philanthropy
  • Corporate partnerships
  • Non-profit governance
  • International development or social impact

Candidates should bring strategic thinking, strong networks and a commitment to inclusion and equity.
