Heidelberg’s SNP Dome to host men’s EuroHockey Indoor Championship in January 2026

Heidelberg will host the men’s EuroHockey Indoor Championship 2026 which will take place at the SNP Dome in the German city from January 8th to 11th, 2026.

It will be the 22nd edition of the men’s competition with Heidelberg becoming the fifth different city in Germany to host this major event after Berlin (1974 and 2020), Bonn (1994), Leipzig (2012) and Hamburg (2022).

The SNP Dome is a state-of-the-art venue with a capacity of up to 5,000 for sports events, providing a wonderful arena for this showpiece competition.

In total, 10 nations will compete over 29 matches over the course of four days of high octane indoor hockey.

Julien Keibel, Commercial Director of DHB, said the agreement to host the tournament in Heidelberg adds to an exciting period for hockey fans in Germany following the 2023 and 2025 outdoor championships in Mönchengladbach.

“With the EuroHockey Indoor Championship 2026, we have succeeded in bringing another major hockey event to Germany.

“Our event strategy for greater visibility of hockey is paying off, and we are very pleased about that.a

“In close cooperation with the city of Heidelberg, we will do everything in our power to make the 2026 EuroHockey Championship an unforgettable experience.”

Germany will go into the competition as one of the sides to beat having won 17 previous editions. They will be competing with the three-time European champions Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Spain, Poland, Portugal and Switzerland as well as debutants Ireland and Türkiye in 2026.

Ticket sales are expected to start in summer 2025.
